Muotathal is a village and a municipality in Schwyz District in the canton of Schwyz in Switzerland. The eponymous valley, the Muotatal, is formed by the Muota, which joins Lake Lucerne at Brunnen.

Mit 172 Quadratkilometern zählt Muotathal zu den zehn flächenmässig grössten Gemeinden der Schweiz und ist beinahe so gross wie der ganze Kanton Zug. Auf dem Gemeindegebiet (Dorf und Gemeide mit "th" geschrieben, das geografische Tal mit "t") befindet sich eine der längsten Höhlen der Welt.

Perched between the Fronalpstock peak and the Urnersee (the southern branch of Lake Lucerne), the village of Morschach, at 643m above sea level, is well known for family holidays and hiking. It is not actually in the Muotathal, but a small cable car connects it to the real star of the valley, the car-free village of Stoos.

Auf der Höhe des Dorfs Muotathal spaltet sich das Muotatal auf, in südöstlicher Richtung bildet sich das Bisistal. Am Ende des Bisistals kann man per Luftseilbahn Sahli–Glattalp auf die Glattalp gelangen.
