The former NCB South Hetton Colliery Hunslet built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 69 has now left the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway and has relocated to her new home at the North Tyneside Steam Railway at West Chirton in Northumberland.

Some work on NCB No.69. Earlier in the week the final bolt holding in one of the slide bars was removed allowing the removal of the RHS crosshead, connecting rod and slide bars. The LHS was removed prior to the engine being shunted at Embsay.

It is remembered as the battalion that closed Omaha Beach, made the longest overland movement of any construction battalion in World War II and became the first Seabee unit to relocate by air. The Seabee veterans of the 69th are proud of their unit. They have an active reunion association and meet annually to reminisce about good times.
