NGC 1931 is a reflection and emission nebula and around a young star cluster in the constellation Auriga. The nebula shares similarities to the Orion Nebula as it is a mixed emission-reflection nebula that also contains a small Trapezium of hot young stars. [2]

NGC 1931 was discovered by William Herschel on 4 February 1793. It is a young star cluster, surrounded by a nebula of gas and dust and has partly amorphous, but partly also a filament-like structure. The dust nebula surrounds a small cluster of faint stars.

NGC 1931 is a Star Cluster + Nebula in the Auriga constellation. NGC 1931 is situated north of the celestial equator and, as such, it is more easily visible from the northern hemisphere. Given its visual magnitude of 10.1, NGC 1931 is visible with the help of a binocular with a 80mm aperture or a small telescope.

NGC 1931 is a combination of an emission and reflection nebula lying 7,000 light years away in the constellation of Auriga, the Charioteer. It is a small but active star-forming region that is sometimes referred to as a mini-Orion nebula due to its physical similarity.

2025年2月11日 · Will the spider ever catch the fly? Not if both are large emission nebulas toward the constellation of the Charioteer (Auriga). The spider-shaped gas cloud in the image center is actually an emission nebula labelled IC 417, while the smaller fly-shaped cloud on the left is dubbed NGC 1931 and is both an emission nebula and a reflection nebula.
