NGC 2173 is a Globular Cluster in the Mensa constellation. NGC 2173 is situated south of the celestial equator and, as such, it is more easily visible from the southern hemisphere. Given its visual magnitude of 11.88, NGC 2173 is visible with the help of a telescope having an aperture of 8 inches (200mm) or more.

Feb 7, 2018 · Here, we report the detection of a bifurcated blue straggler distribution in a young Large MagellanicCloud cluster, NGC 2173. Because of the cluster's low central stellar number density and its young age, dynamical analysis shows that stellar collisions alone cannot explain the observed blue straggler stars.
