NGC 3561, also known as Arp 105, is a pair of interacting galaxies NGC 3561A and NGC 3561B within the galaxy cluster Abell 1185 in Ursa Major. It was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel on 30 March 1827. [6]

NGC 3561 is a Lenticular Galaxy in the Ursa Major constellation. NGC 3561 is situated north of the celestial equator and, as such, it is more easily visible from the northern hemisphere. Given its B magnitude of 14.7, NGC 3561 is visible with the help of a telescope having an aperture of 20 inches (500mm) or more.

The Galaxy NGC 3561 is the strechted Galaxy in the middle of the field. She consists out of 6 galaxies interacting and causing the long streched look similar to a guitar. Overall length of 6 arcmin. On the lower end is a small blue batch called Ambarzumians knot - a didal dwarf of the main galaxy. This group is named ARP 105 as well.

The cluster seems to contain a large number of interacting galaxies with two appearing in the Vorontsov-Velyaminov (VV) catalogue with NGC 3561 being VV 237 and NGC 3530 being VV 1419. The cluster also contains Ambartsumian’s knot (a dwarf galaxy at the end of the banjo like tidal feature associated with NGC 3561A, also known as Arp 105).

NGC 3561 est une galaxie lenticulaire relativement éloignée et située dans la constellation de la Grande Ourse. Sa vitesse par rapport au fond diffus cosmologique est de 8 920 ± 21 km/s, ce qui correspond à une distance de Hubble de 131,6 ± 9,2 Mpc (∼429 millions d'al) [1].

It consists of two massive galaxies: the elliptical galaxy NGC 3561B and the spiral galaxy NGC 3561A. “Arp 105 is one of the brightest objects in the crowded galaxy cluster Abell 1185,” Hubble astronomers said in a statement.
