The galaxy has a diameter of about 93,000 light-years (29,000 pc) and is inclined at an angle of 25° relative to the edge-on view. The image is the sum of 20 sub-frames of 300" (5xeach filter LRGB).

Like other spirals, it has a flat disc permeated by dark lanes of material and with prominent spiral arms where young stars are forming in clusters (the blue dots seen in the image).
