NGC 6522 is a globular cluster of stars in the southern constellation of Sagittarius. It was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel on June 24, 1784. The cluster has an apparent visual magnitude of 8.3 and an angular diameter of 9.4′. [3]

NGC 6522 is a Globular Cluster in the Sagittarius constellation. NGC 6522 is situated south of the celestial equator and, as such, it is more easily visible from the southern hemisphere. Given its visual magnitude of 9.48, NGC 6522 is visible with the help of a binocular with a 60-70mm aperture or a small telescope.

NGC 6522 (on the right) is seen against a very dense portion of the Milky Way, whereas NGC 6528 is on the edge of a dark nebula. The clusters are 16 arcminutes apart, and can be seen together in the same field of view through a telescope at moderate magnification.
