NGC 6589 is a reflection nebula located in the constellation of Sagittarius, and it was discovered by Truman Safford on August 28, 1867. [2] In August 1905, Edward Barnard listed it as IC 4690. [2]

NGC 6589 is a Nebula in the Sagittarius constellation. NGC 6589 is situated close to the celestial equator and, as such, it is at least partly visible from both hemispheres in certain times of the year. Given its B magnitude of 10.5, NGC 6589 is visible with the help of a telescope having an aperture of 6 inches (150mm) or more.
