NGC 6745 (also known as UGC 11391) is an irregular galaxy about 206 million light-years (63.5 mega-parsecs) away in the constellation Lyra. It was discovered by French astronomer Édouard Stephan on 24 July 1879.

Just off the above digitally sharpened photograph to the lower right is the smaller galaxy, moving away. The larger galaxy, pictured above, used to be a spiral galaxy but now is damaged and appears peculiar.

NGC 6745 is a Galaxy located in the constellation of Lyra in the northern hemisphere. NGC 6745 is called NGC 6745 in the New General Catalogue (NGC). This catalogue is a list of deep space objects compiled by John Louis Emil Dreyer in 1888 to update John Herschel's earlier work. NGC 6745 is not a Messier Object and doesn't have a Messier Number.

NGC 6745 contains a significant population of high-mass ‘super star clusters’, with masses in the range 6.5 ≲ log(M cl /M ⊙) ≲ 8.0. This detection supports the scenario that such objects form preferentially in the extreme environments of interacting galaxies.

This pressure, in turn, produces material densities sufficiently extreme as to trigger star formation through gravitational collapse. The hot blue stars in this image are evidence of this star formation.
