NGC 6819 is an open cluster (commonly known as an "open star cluster") located 7,200 light years away in the Cygnus constellation. It was discovered by Caroline Herschel on 12 May 1784. Situated on the boundary of Cygnus and Lyra, NGC 6819 contains roughly two dozen stars of magnitude 10 to 12, with many more lower magnitude members.

2018年5月1日 · NGC 6819 is one of the four open clusters in the Kepler field of view. It is located in the galactic plane, with Right Ascension of 19 hr 39 min 36 s and Declination of +40 o 04′. It has an age of 2.5 Gyr (Basu et al., 2011) and super-solar metallicty of [Fe/H] = +0.09 ± 0.03 (Bragaglia et al., 2001) and reddening of 0.15.

NGC 6819 is a Open Cluster in the Cygnus constellation. NGC 6819 is situated north of the celestial equator and, as such, it is more easily visible from the northern hemisphere. Given its visual magnitude of 7.3, NGC 6819 is visible with the help of a small binocular.

Abstract: Using photometry from the Kepler Input Catalogue, we determine the distance and age of NGC 6819 using several different methods. From isochrone fitting we find the age of the cluster to be about 2.5 Gyr.
