Nickel Plate Road No. 777 is a class S-3 2-8-4 "Berkshire" Type steam locomotive built in 1949 by Lima for the New York, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad, commonly referred to as the "Nickel Plate Road". This type of locomotive was served mainly as freight haulers across Ohio and Indiana while operating on the Nickel Plate Road railroad.

Sold to Luria Bros 4/14/61. Dismantled by Great Lakes Scrap Co Erie PA. Probably taken a few weeks before storage at Conneaut.

2024年11月12日 · Anyone try to run this engine using 4 digit addressing with the CAB3? I entered engine ID 777 and the engine immediately loaded, picture and all. However, the engine would not operate from there. Cleared 777 and programmed as 77 and everything worked as it should. I know there are 4 digit addressing issues with the Triplex.

Numbers 757, 763 and 765 were all part of the S2 class of Berkshires delivered in 1944 and 1945. All of these models will include working Mars lights on the smokebox front, common to all locomotives in this class in the 1950s.

Rostered by multiple railroads under the VanSweringen brothers' control and copied by even more, these modern 2-8-4s combined power, speed and efficiency with a well-balanced style.
