The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is the regulator for nursing and midwifery professions in the UK. The NMC maintains a register of all nurses , midwives and specialist community public health nurses and nursing associates eligible to practise within the UK.

In order to work as a nurse or midwife in the UK you must apply to join the register of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). The NMC requires applicants who trained outside the UK to demonstrate that they are capable of practising safely and effectively, taking into account their qualification, training and experience.
