According to the official No Mans Sky 5.60 patch notes, the latest Relics update (5.6) for No Man’s Sky introduces palaeontology, allowing players to unearth and design fossils, recreate ancient creatures, and battle stone guardians. It adds fossil trading, improved abandoned mode, and rare skeletal lifeforms.
