Since Rhode Island's adoption of The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in 2013, Rhode Island public schools have been working toward full implementation by aligning their curriculum and instruction to the three-dimensional model of science teaching and learning reflected in the NGSS.

NSTA Professional Learning Units are self-paced, flexible short courses designed around relevant science education topics. PLU’s support student-centered learning and can be used toward continuing education credits. This is Option 1.

The NSTA Council is composed of eighteen District Directors representing the 50 States, Canada, Guam, American Samoa, Territory of the Pacific Islands, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands. The Council Affiliate Directors represent the seven NSTA Affiliates. In addition NSTA has several associated groups which share similar missions.
