Park Rangers Applications for this position are accepted from October through December. Interviews will be conducted during January-February and candidates will be selected in the spring. This position is seasonal, generally from May to Labor Day.

Park Rangers serve as ambassadors of the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. They are located in parks across the state and job duties range from enforcing park rules and regulations to interacting with guests in their assigned park (s).

Suffolk County Park Rangers are sworn Peace Officers and they enforce Suffolk County Local Laws, NYS Penal Law, NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law, and NYS Environmental Conservation Law. They have the ability to issue summonses and make arrests when warranted.
