Interstate 278 (I-278) is an auxiliary Interstate Highway in New Jersey and New York in the United States. The road runs 35.62 miles (57.32 km) from US Route 1/9 (US 1/9) in Linden, New Jersey, northeast to the Bruckner Interchange in the New York City borough of the Bronx.

Interstate 278 enters all of New York City’s boroughs: Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and Bronx. I-278 connects to Manhattan because Wards Island, where the Robert F. Kennedy (Triboro) Bridge is partially located, falls within the borough of Manhattan.

The New York section of I-278 begins at the Goethals Bridge at the New York-New Jersey state line. The first section is the Staten Island Expressway, which crosses Staten Island. At the end of the Staten Island Expressway, I-278 goes over the Verrazano Bridge to Brooklyn, where it becomes the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.

The route, 1.51 miles (2.43 km) in length, is located in a rural section of the town of Brunswick. It climbs uphill from a southern terminus at NY 2 in the hamlet of Clums Corners to its northern end at NY 7.
