The C630 was Alco's second model in its six-axle series. Capable of producing more horsepower than its predecessor, the model sold well, but not as well as the C628 with more than 100 purchased between its Schenectady and Montreal plants.

They are a 16 cylinder 251 Alco powered four axle locomotive producing 3000 HP built between July 1966 and February 1968. A whopping total of sixteen are all that were built. Several still exist on the WNYP RR in Western New York (all ex NYC RR) and Green Bay & Western's 315 is preserved at the museum in Green Bay, WI.

CR C630 #6777 Built by Alco in December of 1966 as PRR 6327, it became PC 6327 upon the historic PRR/NYC merger. When it hit the Conrail era, it was renumbered CR 6777. The loco was off the roster by 1988, presumedly scrapped. No photographer was listed for the photo.
