The K-11 class 4-6-2s were a fleet of pacifics that ran on the New York Central Railroad from 1910 up until the early 1950s. In the first decade of this century some of the most notable advances in American locomotive design and construction was taking place.

The true success of the K-11 design is evident with the L-la class 4-8-2's which appeared in 1916 to take over the duties of the K-ll's. Locobases 5578, 13884, and 13885 show the K-11 series of fast freight/passenger engines that entered service on the NYC in 1911. After the successful conversions to the K-14 class for the Boston & Albany (Locobase 16138) and parent company New York Central (Locobase 16139), the Urbana shops made over 3081, 3084, and 3108 to the same design.

2007年4月5日 · This review is on Bowser’s current version of their New York Central K-11 4-6-2 kit.[:D] Bowser still uses the same boiler, frame, cylinders ,and detail parts that they’ve been using for this engine since 1951. The tender is now a diecast model instead of the brass 4-8-2 Mountain tender originally used.

The K-11 hails from around 1910 to 1911. The design is somewhat similar to the earlier K-3 class, but with a notable distinction: K-11s had short, 69 inch drivers; this driver size was a perfect fit as the engines were intended to be used in both freight and passenger service.
