Don Hogle of the S.L.G. & W. not only donated the locomotive to ASRR but was very generous in supplying labor, new batteries, extra parts and a tank of fuel. The return of 101 ( or 105 as the case may prove), is certainly one of the most exciting events in the preservation of O &W history.

2024年3月2日 · Norm Barrett greeted a hearty group of volunteers for the first work session of 2024. It was a cold and rainy day in Scranton but 105 enjoys a warm and dry berth in the esteemed company of Canadian National FPA-4 No. 6783 which is under restoration as well.

Ex-Adirondack Scenic unit now repainted into this classy & classic scheme. This former Maine Coast excursion car (ex-DL&W MU trailer) sits on a siding at Winslow Junction. This is really the original O&W 105, one of only two O&W 44-tonners in existance. The diesel engine will be housed at Steamtown.

SLG and W DS-2 was built by General Electric in August 1942, builder number 15032, as New York, Ontario and Western number 105. It was sold to the Salt Lake Garfield and Western in 1951. The locomotive has had many parts stripped off of it.

Which NYO&W Diesels Still Survive 60 Yrs After Abandonment?
According to Don Strack's UtahRails website, SLG&W DS 1 was ex-NYO&W 105 and the DS 2 was 101. The DS 2 was at the Western Pacific RR Museum in Portola for many years then traded to Western Railway Museum at Rio Vista Jct. WRM's roster notes that there is confusion is the DS 2 is 101 or 105, but they definitely have DS 2 in their collection.

NYO&W #: 105, the 44 ton centercab unit, sits on the Southern Railway of New Jersey storage tracks in Winslow Junction, NJ. This unit has since been moved to Steamtown in Scranton, PA and it undergoing restoration to get it back into operating condition.
