AWR (Naval Aircrewman, Tactical Helicopter): Flies on the MH-60R helicopter; the "R" in AWR is so-called because of the "R" in MH-60R, so they are called Romeo crewmen colloquially. The training pipeline is one of the longest in the Navy. All AWRs must become rescue swimmers before they are selected for the AWR rating.

When our class picked orders we had a pretty even split between AWS and AWR orders so everyone got what they wanted, but the class after us had a disproportionately large number of AWS slots and only a few AWR. I’ve been considering two very different career paths, and I’m struggling to make a decision. On one hand, I’m really passionate about aviation and enjoy physically demanding roles. 2023年11月30日 · AWR is an AIRR only rate. You’d ship with an AIRR contract, and upon passing rescue swimmer school, you’d attend NACCS and the rest of the pipeline from there. There are “dry side” AWS’s (non rescue swimmer AWS) that only attend NACCS, but they’re not SUPER common.
