2024年4月5日 · Generally NetBIOS is tied to SMBv1 being enabled; if SMBv1 is disabled at OS level, then NetBIOS features are not used at all. This is interesting, as I have SMBv1 disabled in Windows on both machines, (appwiz.cpl > Turn Windows features on or off) , however Wireshark is definitely showing UDP traffic on port 137, marked as 'NBNS'.

Simply go to the network card / network connection, go to properties, IPv4 properties, then go to the advanced button. On the WINS tab, place a radio dot next to Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.

In this case, the "nbname" is used for the Name Service, name broadcasts for building browsing lists. 3 ports will be used in this case (NBT) and other ports 138, 139 have other responsibilities. NBT also depends on the DNS. SMB also depends on NetBIOS unless direct hosted.
