Topotactically transformed TiC contributed to the refinement of Ni matrix grain. γ′-Ni 3 (Al,Ti) with grain size of about 100 nm precipitated from Ni alloy matrix. TiC Ni 3 (Al,Ti)/Ni composite exhibits excellent mechanical properties.

The Ta modification augments the Ni2+/Ni3+ redox couple activity, in accordance with the principle of charge conservation, thus bolstering the reversible capacity of the material.
