Nob was a Hobbit of Bree and a servant at The Prancing Pony. Nob had been working for Barliman Butterbur at the inn for an unknown period of time in the late Third Age. When Frodo and his party arrived intending to stay the night, he attended to them and saw to their needs as with any other guest.

Nob was friendly with another Hobbit-servant named Bob, who also served Barliman Butterbur.
