HNLMS O 16 was a submarine of the Royal Netherlands Navy that saw service during World War II. She was the first submarine of the RNN manufactured from high-quality Steel 52, with the ability to dive at a depth of 80 metres (260 ft). [1] HNLMS O 16 was designed by chief engineer of the Royal Netherlands Navy, G. de Rooij. [2] .

The boat, the O-16, is a war grave and the final resting place of dozens of people on board. At the site of the wreck a crane vessel was seen with a large amount of rusty old iron on deck.

Antoine Jacobus Bussemaker, RNN) hit a mine off Tioman island in postion 03º10'N, 104º19'E. 41 men were lost which includes the Commanding officer. There was only one survivor who reached and Island after being in the water for about 35 hours.
