Odda is conveniently located close to the Hardangervidda route (E134 / Rv13) between Oslo and Bergen.

Nestled between towering mountains at the head of the Sørfjord, an arm of the Hardangerfjord, Odda has a proud industrial heritage; the town played a pioneering role in Norway’s industrialisation. In the vicinity of the town are many beautiful waterfalls cascading down the mountainsides, and of course it’s not far to Folgefonna glacier.

The present Odda is a modern town which grew up around smelters built at the head of the Sørfjorden branch of the main Hardangerfjorden in the mid-twentieth century, drawing migrants from different parts of Norway.

Låtefossen, a spectacular twin waterfall near the town, is the most popular attraction in the Odda Valley (Oddadalen). The waterfall, which has been a magnet for travelers since the 19 th century, has a drop of 165 meters and is renowned for the scenic road bridge next to it.
