Every room or space that is an assembly occupancy shall have the occupant load of the room or space posted in a conspicuous place, near the main exit or exit access doorway from the room or space. Posted signs shall be of an approved legible permanent design and shall be maintained by the owner or authorized agent.

If the building official approved an occupant load less than 50 per the Exception to Section 1004.5, then it is not to be considered an assembly space, and no signage is required.

2021年5月11日 · Based on 2015 IBC 1004.3, the occupant load sign is required at assembly occupancies. Section 303.1.1 says a building or tenant space used for assembly purposes with an occupant load of less than 50 shall be classified as a Group B occupancy. That all agrees with your finding that the sign is not required for an occupant load less than 50.

2009年12月5日 · As posted, the sign may be wrong; 21 occupants x 7 sf/occ (1004.2) is a very small room! The Maximum Occupant Load may really be 49 persons (may even be able to use 5 sf/occ around the serving counter), subject to the capacity of the means of egress system (which probably well exceeds 21 persons).

2010年11月10日 · I issue a certificate of occupancy with the information required by section 110.1 and 110.2 but should I be providing a permanent occupant load sign (PAPER WITH CITY LOGO) for assemblies also? section 1004.3 requires the OL to be posted. Another AHJ near me list it's restaurants dining area without the items listed in section 110. How do you do it?

2021年12月29日 · I've got an issue similar to this. 2nd floor office space, occupant load of 15. One exit required, 2-hr interior exit stairway provided. We have an additional unrated exit access stairway. We showed an exit sign in corridor leading to this unrated exit access stairway. Reviewers are requiring that exit sign to be removed.

2015年1月19日 · Group A occupancies with an occupant load greater than 300 have occupant load distribution requirements that are slightly different. If the space only requires one means of egress, then all occupants can be shown using the one exit, even though another door provided.
