Oilskin and Canvas Tarps.... Are They Even Worth It?
2019年2月5日 · Essentially I've been looking for a nice old fashioned tarp to use as a shelter for camping. My problem is canvas is too heavy and expensive as well as oilskin (at least at my income). I've seen people make oilskin tarps out of bed sheets and linseed oil but I hear wax and oil treated tarps become tacky overtime and in the heat.

2014年12月19日 · I have been trying different mixtures lately, my goal is to get as close as to the manufacturers mixtures as possible(I.E. Barbour, duckback etc.). This would mainly include having that oilskin feel, texture, durability and water replant without that heavy smell to it. I love barbours thornproof dressing, I think so far it is the best I have used.

I've always had a wool Pendleton but with the amount of rain in southern Oregon here on the coast I've always wanted an oilskin hat. Well today it showed up and I'm stoked!
