I've owned the 2M Black for about four years now, and I've relied on three main cartridges on my WTL Simplex: the 2M, an FR MC201, and a plain Denon DL-103. I didn't care for what I thought was the Black's brashness and in-your-face dynamics and forward presentation--at first.

Ortofon Quintet Black. by kbchristiansen. This is a very, very nice cartridge. It replaced a re-tipped Ortofon Vero. Tonally easy on the ear. Absolutely no sibilance, deeb bass and punchy mid bass. Midrange is not as present as on the best MM or MI but it is silky, clean and maybe more coherent with the rest of tonal spectrum.

2021年9月28日 · 2nd - recheck that the VTF (stylus pressure) is set correctly (Page 16) - if not already set, increase the VTF to the higher end of the allowable for the 2M Black (1.4-1.7g). 3rd - recheck that the anti-skate is set to the VTF (Page 17). 4th - If you have the tonearm height VTA (Page 18) set at 2 - consider reducing to level 1.

2009年3月19日 · I've been thinking of getting an Ortofon 2M Black myself. I like my AT150, but those clips on the site you linked sound really, really good. The Denon DL-160 is decent, better than the Goldring 1012 that was stock on my MMF-5, but the AT tracks a little better and is smoother on top (with the right loading).

2021年9月8日 · Ortofon gives a life span of around 1000 hours for the black and bronze, but with clean records you should be able to get more than that. This certainly isn't a cost effective hobby, but for me even 1000 hours equals years of use.

2022年2月10日 · The Bronze/Black body is a significant upgrade to the Red/Blue cartridge body. I would not use either a Bronze or a Black stylus on the Red/Blue cartridge body. I think it is perfectly fine to retain and use your Blue stylus with the upgraded Bronze/Black body.

2017年9月3日 · Ortofon 2M Black with SL-1200GR with stock headshell is a near perfect match. No surprise Technics uses that cartridge in demos. It gives you 9.8 hz resonance. Just set VTA at 1mm, VTF and anti-skate at 1.5, and use the headshell play to make azimuth horizontal and forget about it. See my avatar
