2021年5月8日 · OSE is a modern layout of the rules in B/X D&D. It’s the beginners version of D&D with simplified mechanics and race-is-class. The Advanced Fantasy adds a lot of classes and races from 1E’s PHB and UA with an optional rule to keep them split. It lacks the more detailed ability modifiers and generally has a lower power level.

2023年3月10日 · If you like your rules quirky, built with specific use cases in mind, and anything but "modern," stick to real D&D and close variants like OSE. If you don't, you could try this game or even Castles & Crusades.

2023年6月22日 · We had two players with different classes that ended up with similar spells. It really felt like they were basically playing the same thing even with RP differences. But what we are doing is to play AD&D with the heart of OSE. We pull statistics, classes, attributes bonuses and spells from Ad&d, but we play the rules as if they were written in OSE.

2021年6月22日 · If you're looking for broad compatibility with OSR content, OSE is probably the better choice, and you can add on the Advanced Fantasy rules if you want more options. It'll also lend itself better to straight OSR style play. Castles and Crusades has taken the place of 5e for D20 games for me.

2023年8月24日 · OSE is by far the most accessible (easy to use and understand) OSR system out there. Other games like X-without number, Flame Princess, or whatever, add flavor or spin to the basic game.

2023年8月21日 · B/X based games (like OSE) are generally simpler and OSE in particular is very accessible due to readily available and easy to read/reference books. B/X (and by extension OSE) has sound system support for classic dungeon crawl and hex crawl style adventures.
