A cover will reduce dew and rain and dust landing on the bike, but in turn they can sweat and build up condensation underneath. At the same time, a cover limits airflow. The covered bike is outside so subject to temperature swings across the day/night.

I would purchase a commercial bike cover (available from plenty of places) and use that to keep the bike protected. Before putting it in storage I would use an oily rag to go over the allen key bolts, e.g. in the stem. No more than that is really needed, cleaning the bike up will remove that protective layer of dirt and grime that has built up.

2018年11月15日 · Lock - given your bike is out of site, you need decent locking to make sure it doesn't get pinched. For an ugly bike a simple cable lock might be enough. If its a nice bike then the sky's the limit and you might need two D locks and a stout chainlock. Things you should do for yourself: Store clean clothes and towel at work - a full change at least.

Idea: Ride a conventional bike at a fair intensity/effort for 10 minutes, and check your heart rate. Then ride your stationary bike for 10 minutes at the same intensity and check your heart rate.

If you ride the bike with improper clothing, in that case you should use a chainguard. But a chainring cover is a very poor chainguard, it doesn't help much.

If a bike was so delicate that a couple days of rain would render it useless, then it really shouldn't be used for touring. Typically a couple days wet won't hurt most well maintained ...
