I am getting 2 codes P0403 and P0443. I replaced both the EGR Valve and EVAP Purge valve. But I still have the codes coming up. Even if I clear the codes, once I restart it shows up on the scan tool and on the next crank up it turns on the check engine light. What is causing that?

P0403 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit Malfunction. P0443 - Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Malfunction. P0446 - Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Malfunction. The rough idle may be caused by the EGR fault and the EVAP system if the purge valve is stuck open.

Mar 6, 2021 · This morning I started her and she ran rough for about 30 seconds, then smoothed out. The CEL came on so checked codes and there was a p0403 which points to the egr solenoid or an electrical problem with the egr system. With the egr deleted, why would I get an egr problem? The symptom also matches what a p0403 code describes.

P0403 codes are usually very straight forward faulty EGR solenoids. While there can be problems with the valve or hoses, etc, that cause EGR problems, these will usually cause a P0401 code. The difference here is that P0401 is indicating that the EGR effect is incorrect, whereas your P0403 is actually indicating there is an electrical problem ...
