与PSP模拟其他平台游戏的机制不同，PSP模拟PS1的方式并不是通过模拟器运行原始的PS1游戏，而是要先把PS1游戏转换为PSP专用的PBP格式游戏，说白了就是psp官方的ps1模拟器。
