The Welter-Meunier P88 is a Group C sports prototype race car, designed, developed, and built by the French racing team Welter Racing, specifically to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans that year. The 1988 24 Hours of Le Mans was the 56th Grand Prix of Endurance as well as the fifth round of the 1988 World Sports-Prototype Championship. It took place at the Circuit de la Sarthe, France, on the 11 and 12 June 1988.

Although the fastest run was 407 km/h, the official figure was set at 405 km/h as the race coincided with the launch of the new Peugeot 405. Running at maximum boost combined with the earlier problems saw the P88 return to the pits soon after and it was eventually retired after the electrical, cooling and turbo issues could not be sorted.
