The parabrachial nuclei, also known as the parabrachial complex, are a group of nuclei in the dorsolateral pons that surrounds the superior cerebellar peduncle as it enters the brainstem from the cerebellum. They are named from the Latin term for the superior cerebellar peduncle, the brachium conjunctivum.

2018年5月1日 · CGRP PBN neurons relay a wide variety of aversive signals (e.g., food poisoning, pain, itch, and hypercapnia) to the central nucleus of the amygdala, the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis, and other brain regions. Activation of CGRP PBN neurons is necessary and sufficient to establish robust foot-shock and taste memories.

The PBN is a complex of nuclei located in the brainstem that extends from the dorsolateral region of the pontine tegmentum to the most caudal mesencephalic region (Bianchi et al., 1998). The PBN is composed of ten subnuclei characterized based on the size, shape, and staining characteristics of the constitutive neurons (Fulwiler and Saper, 1984).
