NVME: AHCI or RAID? - AnandTech Forums
2015年12月13日 · The AHCI/Raid options are under SATA operation, however I can confirm that OOB, Ubuntu 15.10 can see the drive under AHCI, but not under RAID. (Another weird thing is that the BIOS gives you the option to wipe all internal data on next boot, but that only covers non PCIE drives.) BIOSes aren't exactly great UX or terminology
M.2 PCI-E AHCI or NVMe? CSM or UEFI boot? Win7 or Win10?
2017年2月5日 · I had picked out the AHCI drives, as they were available on ebay from Newegg at the time, and PCI-E M.2 was a relatively new thing, and I thought that logistically, it would have been more difficult to install Win7 64-bit on a Skylake system with an M.2 NVMe drive.
What PCIe add in cards can boot a NVMe M.2 SSD?
2009年3月27日 · The Supermicro AOC-SLG3-2E4R will only work in motherboards that have PCIe switches onboard. Otherwise CPU PCIe lanes cannot handle two PCIe devices on a single PCIe slot. Likewise, the Supermicro AOC-SLG3-2E4 has an Avago/ PLX switch chip onboard and thus can take the single PCIe x8 slot and use it for two devices.

Full NVMe support possible for older Intel Chipsets!
2012年7月29日 · Today I found a method how to get full NVMe support even with an Intel 6-Series Chipset system. Using my old ASUS P8Z68-V mainboard I was able to successfully boot directly into Win10 x64 TP, which had been installed onto a PCIe connected Intel 750 SSD. All I had to do was to add the required NVMe modules into the mainboard BIOS.
