May or may not be in a pistol caliber. Generally a small form firearm that is easily concealable on body or in a backpack/bag.

SMG's tend to place the receiver in front of the grip in the typical small arms layout, while PDW's typically have pistol style in-grip receivers or an alternative length shortening feed location such as bullpup or whatever the hell the wizards over at FN did on the P90.

Thats not entirely true a pdw can be an smg or carbine scaled down for rear echelon/non primary combatantd. most modern pdw’s fire a scaled down rifle cartridge but the the honey badger, aks74u, mp9 and mpx sub compact are all considered different pdw’s and the vz61 was also used in a pdw role for vehicle crews.

2021年5月20日 · While the technical “Carbine” part of PCC gets ignored in use of simply describing pistol caliber same as “subgun” would. PDW more describes purpose and compactness. SBR is the only legal definition here, the others are subjective and non legal terms outside of the abbreviation use in model names. A PDW may or may not be an SBR.
