
PKP class Pm36 - Wikipedia
PKP class Pm36 is a class of two express passenger (P) 4-6-2 (m) steam locomotives ordered in 19 36 for the Polskie Koleje Państwowe (Polish State Railways). The design was ready in 1936, and in the following year, the first two prototypes were built. One of them, Pm36-1, had aerodynamic fairing.
Pm36 - LOCOMOTIVES
Pm36 was not ordered by PKP and the question whether it could have been built in quantity shall remain open. Most sources claim that both examples were used by PKP before WWII, but no traces in rosters have been found and most probably they were used only for service tests, including hauling the ‘Nord-Express’ between Kutno and Zbąszyń.

2007年4月28日 · The Pm36-1 won a gold medal at the International Exposition of Art and Technology in 1937. Service Pm36-1 was damaged and later scrapped during World War II (probably in 1942), but Pm36-2 survived and worked for PKP until 1965, when it was given to the Warsaw Railway Museum.

Die Baureihe Pm36 bestand aus zwei Pacific-Schnellzugdampflokomotiven der Polnischen Staatsbahn PKP. Wegen ihres eleganten Äußeren sind die Lokomotiven auch als Piękna Helena (Schöne Helena) bekannt. Die Reihe Pm36 wurde 1937 bei Fablok in Chrzanów in zwei Exemplaren gebaut.

2025年3月21日 · The aerodynamic silhouette of the Pm36-1 steam locomotive made a furore at the Paris World Exhibition in 1937. The steam locomotive jokingly called "la belle polonaise". (beautiful Polish woman) returned to Poland with a gold medal. Pm36-1 is the first example of the use of aerodynamic shapes in the history of Polish railways.

A second locomotive of this type was built withou streamlining. Both were captured by Germany in 1939 and taken over by the DRG as Class 18 6. After the war, they were returned.

It soon became No. 18 602 with the DRB and, probably as a result of enemy action during the intervening years, was numbered Pm36-1 when returning to the PKP at Bydgoszcz Glówny in May 1947, having earlier been sequestrated by the ZSR and ÖBB. It had a spell at Torun Glówny in 1952, and later in 1959 at Gdynia Grabówek.
