At the very end of the thirties, new mines of the PMD-6 type (“Anti-personnel mine, wooden”) began to flow into the engineering units of the Red Army.

The PMD-6M is a wooden version of a box or "shu" mine with a two-piece case. In the PMD-6M mines a metal clip has been added to the interior of the box to prevent direct pressure loading of the "T" pin on the fuze until it is stepped upon.

The PMD-6, PMD-7 and PMD-57 series mines are Russian blast type anti-personnel mines that consist of a wooden box with a hinged lid with a slot cut into it. The slot presses down against a retaining pin, which holds back the striker.

The PMD-6M (ПМД-6М) is a simple, Soviet/Russian, pre World War 2 (WW2) era developed, box-like, anti-personnel blast (APB) mine. The PMD-6M mine uses a wooden casing, which holds a block-type high explosive charge that is fitted with an MUV (МУВ) type fuze.
