The final rule titled, Oxygen and portable oxygen concentrators for medical use by passengers replaces the previous process and allows passengers to use a POC on board an aircraft if the POC satisfies certain acceptance criteria and bears a label indicating conformance with the acceptance criteria.

FAA approved Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) are allowed to be used onboard our aircraft. A POC is a medical device that separates oxygen from other gasses in the air and dispenses this concentrated oxygen to the user.

The label requirements in this paragraph (f)(1)(v) do not apply to the following portable oxygen concentrators approved by the FAA for use on board aircraft prior to May 24, 2016: ( A ) AirSep Focus; ( B ) AirSep FreeStyle;

2023年2月22日 · List of POCs that meet FAA specifications for inflight use. Portable oxygen concentrators (POCs) do not actually contain or generate oxygen, they concentrate it from the ambient air. Those depending on a POC while traveling must bring sufficient spare batteries in carry-on baggage for the duration of the flight.

2016年5月24日 · In order to be used on aircraft, a label must be affixed to the POC indicating compliance with acceptance criteria pertaining to FDA clearance to market the device, hazardous materials, and RF emission limits. POC models identified in existing SFAR No. 106 satisfy the acceptance criteria and will be exempt from the labeling requirement.

2019年5月10日 · The new FreeStyle® Comfort® portable oxygen concentrator, which was introduced after August 22, 2016, meets FAA guidelines for commercial air flights, and bears the symbol on the back label of the device.

2018年9月8日 · Your POC must have a manufacturer's label attached indicating it has been approved for use on aircraft. If no label is present, our Crew members will make every effort to verify that the device has been approved for air travel through our Business Partner.
