Pennsylvania Railroad 1737 was a 4-6-2 Pacific type K4 class steam locomotive built in 1914 as the first of its class and would haul heavier passenger trains that the smaller E class 4-4-2 Atlantics could not handle such as the PRR's flagship passenger train, the Broadway Limited.

The PRR inherited twelve "Pacific" locomotives when the railroad absorbed the Vandalia Line, in 1917. These ALCO built 4-6-2 locomotives weighed 263,000 pounds and had 80" drivers, 24 x 26 cylinders, a 200 psi boiler pressure and they exerted 31,824 lbs of tractive effort.

K4s #3750, a 1920 product of PRR's Juniata Shops, masquerades as the first K4 – #1737. She got her original number back when she moved to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg, Pa.

The real 3750 was so worn out at her time of retirement, that not even the PRR shops could save her. 1737 was in much better shape and was given 3750's number plates and other identifying items to stand in her place in history.
