
PRR Steam Roster Pt2 - NE Rails
The PRR's original locomotive classification system was in force between 1867 and 1895. Under this system, each significant locomotive type was assigned a different class letter even if the wheel arrangements were the same. To illustrate this, classes A, B and C were all 4-4-0 type locomotives but with differing specifications.

PRR Locomotives - Columbus Railroads
C1 – 0-8-0 – The PRR had 90 of the class C1 switchers. They were the heaviest 0-8-0 type locomotive ever built. They proved unpopular with the roundhouse crew as they were prone to derailing on bad track and to stay bolt leaks. They were used in hump service when there were no other class locomotive available. C1 No. 6610 taken at Columbus.
Consolidated Railroad Corp GE C30-7A Diesels
It became CSX Transportation 7101, Class 30-7A, in 1999 and resold as NS PRR 8118. It was retired on November 2, 2000, and sold as America Latima Logistica 9281. 6576, Class C30-7A, was built in June 1984, #44565 .

Pennsylvania 0-8-0 "Switcher" Locomotives in the USA
Flexible-beam eight-coupled engines from Baldwin enjoyed some success beginning in the mid-1840s (see Locobase 1022 for a description of this setup). Colburn pointed out two advantages to the layout. The "hind truck" was under the firebox and, "while the wheelbase is thus limited, an equal distribution of weight is obtained."
