The U25C is a diesel locomotive built by General Electric intended for the United States domestic market. Launched in September 1963, it remained in production until December 1965. It was replaced by the U28C.

2025年1月1日 · The U25C was General Electric's first entry into the six-axle locomotive market. The locomotive debuted in 1963 and as Brian Solomon notes in his book, "GE Locomotives," was specifically tailored for heavy freight service during an era before six-motor diesels had gained widespread popularity.

Phase II: full-size fuel tank, air tanks moved to the hood, small louvers added behind cab, door louvers eliminated under the right side of the cab. Phase IIIa: large screened openings added to hood sides and roof behind the cab, one set of louvers ahead of the right-side screen.

Since the ICC had mandated PRR control of the New Haven, the Lehigh & Hudson River was included to provide for a direct PRR New Haven freight connection via Maybrook, ny and the Poughkeepsie Bridge. The New Haven was merged in 1969, the N&W in 1972, and Dereco and the L&HR in 1976........
