2013年12月23日 · I should make an observation on price. The PS8 with 8 plugs is $700, the Defender is $200 and you probably want the $300 Venom HC. So $1,200 gets you the whole setup which is well below a Hydra AV at $3K with 8 plugs, or the Triton at $5K (more filtering). So I think Shunyata has done a nice job of creating an affordable line conditioner.

The cumulative improvement simply on the receptacle side and having multiple components plugged into those receptacles will give you a significant improvement, which I've been saying for more than 10 ...

2013年12月23日 · We buy in bulk of course, so our price is lower. We do put the PS8's 5362's through our own cryo-process-- we own multiple tanks. After you add handling, inventory, overhead and the fact that we build these PS8's at the factory with US hand labor, the installed cost of the outlets and the price of the PS8 is very reasonable by any standard.

2020年12月23日 · Torus (the now replaced IS5) made a much more noticeable difference in my system than the Shunyata PS8 + Defender combo. I suspect that in the higher price ranges ($3k and up) Audioquest and Shunyata may be better, but have no personal experience.

2013年12月23日 · I have been using the Defender, PS8, SR-Z1 and Venom cords. I also finalized the upgrades to my interconnects by replacing the last Mogami with Analysis Plus. The net results have been quite impressive, especially that final weak link connection from pre to power amp.

2021年3月16日 · I also have not heard them. They came out in 1999, "evolved", by the same designers as the 20/20. I had 20/20 passives for all of a week in 2001, also with a 8" woofer; they were not revealing.

2019年7月1日 · Delta NR --> PS8 with Entech in first receptacle; Delta NR --> PS8 with Defender in first receptacle, Entech in second and maybe last receptacle; Above + incrementally adding one Venom NR at a time into open PS8 receptacles; I still don't recall reading any impressions about how your system sounded through the MPC-12C vs. the Monster.
