The Piper Vagabond (PA15 & PA17) is the first aircraft in the Short Wing Piper lineage. The Vagabond is a great airplane, it is simple and easy; ownership is affordable on a middle class income and is inexpensive to operate.

The PA-17, introduced in 1949, was primarily intended to serve as a trainer and with a 65-hp, Continental installed.

Piper’s PA-17 was a fresh design offering side-by-side seating but used much of the tooling and many components of the J-3 Cub. Efficiencies of production and its savings were passed along to the receptive consumer. Dual controls combined with side-by-side seating made the model more efficient for training and more pleasurable for communication.
