Jul 14, 2023 · The Cleric CAN do many of the things paladins can, but they also can take a more "supportive" role in the party and also can also get by exclusively by casting spells (sure, a blessed warrior build of a paladin could too, but then as far as I know you cannot smite, so you might play a cleric as well). I love the cleric spells shatter planar ally and spirit guardians so I’m leaning a bit more into a cleric playthrough. Apr 2, 2015 · Long term. Consider taking Cleric to level 8 at max and 12 for Paladin. Short term. 1 level in Cleric and bum rush Paladin to 5. Then up both 1 for 1 to a degree. Vengeance Paladin and War Domain cleric work well together. You gain access to a boat load of 1-3 level spell slots which should allow for maximized smiting.

Aug 18, 2023 · 5 in paladin then go 5 in war cleric. That's my current MC, you get decent spell progression, high level slots and can be the face. You can have 3 attacks per turn for a few rounds and then go back to just 2 one you have burned your war cleric charges. Dump dex and int. Pump strength and wisdom with a bit of charisma.

Aug 20, 2023 · Both in heavy armor + shield(if you want) so AC will be about even. Paladin has less spells, less ranged options, but more healing through lay on hands. If you want to deal melee attack damage paladin is better. If you want damage from spells cleric is better. Paladin ends up getting auras that make them stand their ground quite well.
