In 2006, Philippe Boets had just moved Pétanque America (the first online pétanque store), from Miami, Florida to Greensboro, NC. Gary and Shirley reached out to Philippe and invited him to join the fun! Philippe suggested that they form an official club and Carolina Pétanque was born.

Philippe Boets, founder and CEO of Petanque America (and local celebrity), was kind enough to come show our Concours crowd the ropes on the game. He gave a talk on the history of the game, a rundown on the rules, some boule-tossing tips, and lessons on scoring. This was all just a set-up for the furious competition throughout the weekend.
