The diversion Dam of run-of-the-river 1,020 MW Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project (PHEP-II) is located about 20 km downstream of Wangduephodrang Bridge. All other project components are situated on the right bank. It’s underground Power House is 15 km downstream of Dam at Kamechu, Dagar Gewog.

Punatsangchhu-I (1,200 MW) & Punatsangchhu-II (1,020 MW) are the two first projects taken up for development towards the result of the 10,000 MW by 2020, initiative taken by Royal Government of Bhutan (RGoB) and Government of India (GoI) in May 2008.

2025年2月28日 · Punatsangchhu-I Hydroelectric Project Authority (PHPA-I) is an autonomous body set up for implementation of the 1,200MW Punatsangchhu-I Hydroelectric Project (PHEP-I), the mutually beneficial Indo-Bhutan Friendship Project. The project’s implementation started on November 11, 2008.

2024年8月15日 · The energy and natural resources minister said that once all six turbines are operational, PHPA-II is expected to generate Nu 20bn in annual revenue. The project officials shared that they plan to have all six units of the Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project commissioned by December 2024.

2021年8月3日 · The Punatsangchhu II is a 1GW run-of-the-river hydroelectric power generating facility under construction in the Wangdue Phodrang district of Bhutan. The project is being developed by the Punatsangchhu II Hydroelectric Project Authority, under an Inter-Government Agreement (IGA) between the Royal Government of Bhutan and the Government of India.
