In this study, UV-C light source with specific wavelength of 220 nm was used to pretreat the faying surface for strengthening the Cu/Cu and PI/PI bonding respectively. The results show that a proper light expoure effectively increased the joint strength. FTIR analysis confirms that it was related to the hydroxyl ligands formed on the surface.
