2004年3月20日 · Powder: Hogdon Pyrodex RS "ffg". Overpowder wad: aprrox .060 vegetable fiber material (buffalo arms). Primer on hand: CCI LR (#200) From what I have read here, the procedure is to fill the case until _slightly_ over the position of the Bullet and wad, and seat bullet/wad to compress powder. Pyrodex in the .45-70 - Graybeard Outdoors
2012年6月27日 · Pyrodex does produce a corrosive residue from combustion. Even though this fouling is softer than the fouling produced by blackpowder, firearms should be cleaned after each use. Hodgdon Powder Co. recommends the use of natural cleaning solvents. Cartridge cases that have been fired using Pyrodex require special care.
Shelf life of Pyrodex - Graybeard Outdoors
2003年10月29日 · A few months ago we dug out some old Pyrodex from my powder magazine. This was stuff I bought in the early '70s. Several of us wondered about the viability of it and elected to try it out. I was a great proponent of Pyrodex but then switched to flint and went back to BP. So the residual Pyrodex sat around for all these years.
Pyrodex in a flintlock - Graybeard Outdoors
2016年2月4日 · Using Pyrodex RP as the main charge and in the priming pan, it would fire reliably, but there was what seemed like an unacceptable lag between hammer drop and ignition. Pyrodex Pellets in revolver - Graybeard Outdoors
2017年6月13日 · Pyrodex pellets do have a touch of blackpowder on one end for better ignition. Triple Seven pellets do not. Pellets were designed for 209 primers, not #11 caps. You might get them to go off, then again you might not, for target that doesn't matter, but in a hunting situation or other, not worth the chance.
Blank charges with Pyrodex in a 1" cannon - Graybeard Outdoors
2013年4月16日 · Pyrodex is a smokeless propellant made to mimic black powder. Smokeless propellant powders are grey/black & still make smoke (just so we are not confused). If I had to use Pyrodex, I would try with no wad first. If I need a wad, I would have to use something that would not become a projectile.
Blackpowder To Pyrodex To Triple 7 Equivalents
2004年8月30日 · Blackpowder To Pyrodex To Triple 7 Equivale I wasn't even sure what a Firestorm was, so I went to T/C's web site to check it out. Interesting, a flintlock that has a removable breechplug and is designed to use pellets. This makes is a bit of a stretch to be considered traditional, especially with a composite stock and in stainless steel.
Black powder vs Pyrodex RS - Graybeard Outdoors
2007年12月7日 · Pyrodex was my main powder for a number of years, then I tried 777 and ended up with a nasty spot in my barrel. The spot was only a few inches long right above where the patched ball sits, and it took a bunch of scrubbing to get clean.
