qFIT test is a very specific test for the presence of human blood in the faeces. According to current data, patients with low-risk symptoms and a negative q-FIT result have a very low risk of colorectal cancer (evidence from NICE guideline DG30). qFIT has a number of advantages over the guaiac haemoccult test (FOBT):

The threshold for determining an abnormal result is high. qFIT symptomatic: is offered to patients who present certain symptoms (DG30 Criteria) and is administered a test by the GP.

What is qFIT: The qFIT test (quantitative faecal immunochemical test) is now widely used in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (NBSCP). It is also a good test to identify symptomatic people at higher risk of having a diagnosis of colorectal cancer.
